My issue is that the question specifically stated that you are a CPL employed as a pilot to fly their 6 seat aircraft.

Apologies Shiellsy - Then company would also need AOC, and based on that definition the operation is most certainly commercial. Nothing private about it. You are EMPLOYED AS the pilot. The 6 passengers who did not pay, and the fact that the ACFT is owned by the company were red herrings so to speak.
Now had you been employed AS the DRILLER...
The op is commercial. But I know you knew that! Darn those questions.
