Documents to be carried...

BBird created the topic: Documents to be carried...

Hi guys here is one from the BT CPL Text.

Which of the following docs must be carried on a VFR charter within Aust?

A CAO
B Written checklists for pre to and pre land
C Pax List
D Flight manual. (correct ans)

According to CAR 140 the flight may carry and opps manual instead of the flight manual if it is operated under an AOC. But surely a charter operation must have a AOC see CAR 206...

Or have I gone completely mad? (it is possible)

Hi Ben,

No, you're not going mad, an operator may indeed carry an ops manual instead of a flight manual for the aircraft as long as it contains everything in the flight manual and doesn't contradict it anywhere. However, that is not one of the answer options. Of the answers available, (d) is the only one that could be correct.

Picking this comes down to a bit of exam technique. You may find there are answer options which do not cover every possibility but the statement made in the answer option is 100% correct and is applicable to the question stem. Option (d) does not cover every eventuality (because it doesn't mention the ops manual exemption) but the flight manual is still one of the mandatory documents listed in CAR 139. None of the other options will apply.

We are not trying to mess with your head, this style of questioning is common in the CASA exam.

Cheers,

Rich
