For smoking prohibited, PIC should orally briefing, or show a sign, or BOTH?
Star Alliance created the topic: For smoking prohibited, PIC should orally briefing, or show a sign, or BOTH?
On charter, the pilot shall inform the passengers that smoking is prohibited at all times by
A) Showing a sign that smoking is prohibited
Orally briefing the passengers
C) Showing a sign that smoking is prohibited and orally briefing the passengers
In the previous post, some guys says they choose BOTH and it goes wrong.
But according to CAOs, BOTH should be th correct answer.

Passenger Briefing
CAO 20.11 (para 14) states
The interesting points here is:
1. it doesn't have to be the pilot that does this (e.g airliner operations) though it usually is the pilot in single-crew operations
2. CAO 20.11 doesn't state that the pilot (or anyone else) has to show the sign, though a briefing could make reference to the sign(s)
Smoking
CAR 255 states when smoking could be permitted and when its prohibited. This regular specifies how signs could be used, but doesn't not say anyone has to 'show' the sign to passengers.

(b) that a notice indicating that smoking is prohibited at all times or without specifying a period during which smoking is prohibited is displayed: (i) in such parts of the aircraft as are specified for the purpose in the aircraft’s certificate of airworthiness or flight manual; and
(ii) in the case of a sleeper aircraft, in each of the berths of the aircraft. Penalty: 25 penalty units.
(3) The pilot in command of an aircraft must, if the permission of CASA has not been obtained under paragraph (2)(a) for the display of a permanent notice, ensure that the notice indicating that smoking is prohibited is displayed: (a) during take-off, landing and refuelling; (b) during such periods as are specified for the purpose in the aircraft’s certificate of airworthiness or flight manual; and
