I’m a little confused on how to obtain the ADF indication once the FPT is intercepted? Particularly for Exercise 9 ie question 1, ADF at intercept -30F = 150R. Can someone explain to me how it works?

Hi,
Your aircraft is currently HEADING 175ºM
The ADF is pointing at 190º, which is +10º off the tail of the aircraft (With the tail of the aircraft indicated as 180º on the ADF)
HEADING ± ADF = TRACK
175 + 10 = 185
Therefore the aircraft is currently TRACKING 185º
You want to intercept your new track of 200º with a 30º intercept, so your required HEADING will be 230º (200+30)
If you use your H±A=T rule to calculate the new ADF indication
HEADING ± ADF = TRACK
230 ± ? = 200
We know the answer is -30… but there is no -30 on the ADF.
It is in relation to the tail of the aircraft (Represented a 180 on the ADF)
Therefore 180 - 30 = 150
