I'm resisting the General knowledge exam Tuesday and was hoping for some help on some questions. I have gone through the KDRs and all the books but cannot find the answers.

Blocked pitot tube on climb how would the pilot know this was the case.
A. Nose increases
B. Nose describes
C. Something ridiculous
D. None (which I chose)

I know it would over- read on descent but no idea about the nose?

What are the minimum actuators for a single engine helicopter
A. 2 for cyclic and 2 for collective
B. 1 for cyclic and 2 for collective
C. 2 for cyclic and 1 for Collective
D. 1 for cyclic and 1 for collective

I didn't even know what an actuator was so guessed a and it was wrong.

What is the reason for the need to regularly adjust heading card in DG?
A. Apparent precession (previous post had said it was not this)
B. Earth transport wander precession (chose this)
C. Real precession
D. Magnetic precession

What does a stabilising bar do?
It was either stops the effect of external factors or returns to normal pitch after external factors change it

How would you know if manual clutch fails in flight?
Options were engine over speed
Engine under speed
Can't remember the others

Carby heat with no gauge on descent what would you do on descent?
2 partial options which I knew were incorrect with no gauge
C. Carby heat on while descending
D. Carby heat on while descent until landing

Where is the oil filter in a dry sump?

How to check alternator failure in flight with left ammeter at zero?
A. The fact it's at zero says it's failed (I chose and it was wrong)
B. Turn off circuit breakers
C. Turn on electrical components
D. Turn off electrical components

How to check with centre zero ammeter - basically the same as above.

If antitorque pedals fail what happens?
Options with engine and yawing.

Thank you for your help, got 90s in all 4 practise exams so we very gutted to fail.

Resat and passed. Used power of deduction to work the above out. Also found the answers to some of the above in really old forum questions.

Hi Jess-

Congrats on passing second time around!

Did you manage to find out about the minimum number of actuators on a single engine heli? Is it 2 cyclic and 1 collective, or 1 cyclic and 1 collective?

I am re-sitting my AGK exam this Saturday- fingers crossed!
