question: You are establishing a lowest safe altitude tolerance area prior to take-off for a flight from Alpha to Bravo. The route does not appear on the ERC. Alpha has an NDB, but Bravo has no navigation aid. If the distance from Alpha to Bravo is 60 nm, the tolerance area must include a semicircle centred on Bravo.

The radius of this semicircle would be closest to -


for the answer would you add the 5NM buffer to the 10.3NM radius or not.... 10.3 or 15.3?

The question is asking for the tolerance area, the tolerance area does include the 5 nm buffer so the answer would have to be 15.3nm.

Great - thanks Bob... always so important to read these questions properly... Managed to get between 85 - 95% in the cyber exams so I guess I should be fine for the exam...
