Descent below DA/DH during a missed approach

Hi guys,

I've been seeing a lot of conflicting information so I've decided to make a new post here.

It it acceptable go descend below the DA after initiating a missed approach?

AIP ENR p1.19.1 says "operations are not permitted to MDA or DA lower than those published on IAL charts".

AIP GEN 2.2 Definition of MDA

You cannot descend below MDA unless you have visual reference. MDA considers obstacle clearance and visibility.

AIP GEN 2.2 Definition of DA.

A missed approach must be initiated at DA. That doesn't mean that you cannot come below DA. Some heavy aircraft may even touchdown on the runway during a missed approach. At DA you must decide if you are going to do a missed approach or not.

"operations are not permitted to MDA or DA lower than those published on IAL charts" Simply means that the DA you use may not be lower than the values published on the chart. DA is not a limit on your descent. MDA is about obstacles that may be in the circling area. You can be sure that there are no obstacles between you and the threshold when you are at 220 feet on final. DA considers only visibility along the runway - not obstacles.
