Aurora created the topic: Townsville ILS-Z online practice exam question

Hi again, last question!!! (Hopefully :) )

Question 38 of 40 (Marks: 1) (IREX_154)

You have been cleared to carry out a RWY 01 ILS-Z approach into Townsville in VH-OZY. You have applied pressure error correction to your altimeter.

1 270 feet and a visibility of 1.5 --- Incorrect
2 370 feet and a visibility of 1.2 km
3 370 feet and a visibility of 1.8 km --- Correct
4 750 feet and a visibility of 4.2 km

Submitted Answer was Answer 1 (Incorrect).

Why is it not answer 1 - Townsville, S-I ILS-Z 370 (352) 1.8 (VIS 1.5 WITH ACTUAL QNH) -- BOX SHADED --- PEC applied --- ATIS

Thanks

Im rusty but
The chart is new type and says Straight In ILS MDA 370 feet
you have to ADD 100 if no QNH you cant take off 100 That 370 is OLS at 1.5k viz with QNH is it not

on these charts you have to add either PEC for the aircraft or 50 feet to the DA to determine your landing minima
min viz 800m if you can comply with CAt 1 and have actual.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying again.

That's all the info given in the question.

I disagree - AIP 1.5 5.3.2 states: These minima may be reduced by 100FT whenever an actual QNH is set. ATIS is available at Townsville.

Thanks

Hi there,

Did the wording the for question actually say anywhere that you had received the actual QNH? I know the chart states ATIS/AWIS frequencies and it is the assumption that we get a QNH before conducting the approach, but sometimes it gets down to the wording in the question. Tricky buggers!

Cheers,

Mister W
