Hi Bob

This example does not look right! More specifically, an altimeter reading of 244' at the DA looks wrong.

IREX eText page 290

Reasoning
Looking at the worked example on the Altimeter Correction chart below, the mathematical function relating Indicated Altitude to the Actual (Indicated) Altitude is:
Indicated Altitude (4000') + Altimeter Correction (+2') = Actual (Indicated) altitude (4002')

Now, getting back to the worked DA exercise
When the altimeter reads 244' the Indicated Altitude is 244'. Applying a PEC of minus 6' gives an Actual (Indicated) Altitude of 238' - ie
Indicated Altitude (244') + Altimeter Correction (-6') = Actual (Indicated) altitude (238')

So when the altimeter reads 244', the actual indicated altimeter reading will be 238' which is below the actual indicated DA of 250'

Do you have any thoughts in this reasoning?

That was spotted just recently, and the amended last paragraph now reads.
