Goodnight once again. Just some confusion on one question in regards to the subject mentioned..

Question :

You departing Sydney TWO DEPARTURE (RADAR) runway 07, clear to 2500ft, TAS 150 and a 10kts tailwind , what is the initial rate of climb?

Formula:

Rate of Climb or decent = [Climb Gradient] x [Ground speed (GS)

When doing this question I pick 5.6% x 160 = 840ft/min. But my answer was wrong❌..

Please find attached is a Copy of DAP east, Sydney TWO DEPARTURE RADAR and confirm which Climb gradient to used.. should it be; 3.3% or 4.7%

Thank you for your time. See you then.
Stay blessed, and have a wonderful night..

One of the key points at the exam (and whilst flying too), is to be accurate.

Firstly why did you pick departure from rwy 25 (5.6%), when the question is asking departure from rwy 07 (4.7%) ?
Secondly, when you multiply 5.6 x 160 = 896, not 840 as in your post.

A few advices..
Do it slowly, but be accurate, not fast !
Double check your results and do the sanity cross-check too.

Once you get accurracy, the speed will come with (accurate) practice.

Before posting a question, confirm whether the answer is in irex errata page.

Good luck at the exam.

Hii then,

You're right...my mistake 840, should be 896.

Soo it doesn't matter what height they give me to climb to like the one in the question 2500ft, but the main idea is to focus on which runway to used if mention and its gradient??? Even if the gradient used is up to 1500ft not 2500ft?

Read the last sentence from the question again "..what is the initial rate of climb?"
Note the word "initial"...

ATC gives you a clearance to depart on SID Sydney TWO DEPARTURE (RADAR) runway 07.

Will you open a SID plate, or AIP?
