Hello there,

Is sat IREX exams a few weeks ago only got 65%. I was going through the questions and there are some which I can remember particularly there was this question which I am sure I got wrong.

Destination is Sydney and Alternate is Canberra, which frequency would you get automatic weather report for both the aerodromes. I thought it was referring to Volmet so I chose Volmet frequency :128.65 which I think was wrong. I am still trying to figure out what that could have been correct answer the other option that I was thinking about was AWIS freq of Canberra, but I am not too sure.

The other question was regarding rate of descent at Canberra. Based on 3% approach path and the GS, I was getting answer of 600ft/min, but there were only two options that were closest, one was 580ft/min and the other one was 620ft/min so, I just chose 580 ft/ min. So I am guessing that was wrong too as its mentioned in KDR. How to determine which one is best answer?

Also, there was a question regarding icing, I which cloud type was Altocumulus and temp was -12 and I was to dtermine where would icing occur? I guess I need to go back to CPL met for this one.

Apart from this the rest were my mistakes in selecting correct answer for Nav equipment requirement for LDG, night VFR stuff and circling minima.

Any help with first two questions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

For frequencies, check AIP GEN 3.5-14 and 3.5-19

Are you sure it was 3%, and not 3deg?
See Gradient rate nomograph on DAP 2-1

Look at the drawing on page 2, and a table on page 4.
