Q22 (MET book final exam 2)
When must a met forcast be obtained for a flight in an aircraft with a max takeoff weight of 5700kgs?

Is the MTOW figure a significant piece of information or has it been provided to confuse the innocent?

Thanks in advance

Hi mrchavez,

I think (in my book anyway) you'll find the question states "... with a maximum take-off weight no (sic) exceeding 5700kg?"

That is, your average light aircraft of <5700kg MTOW. Looking at the options given, I would be inclined to go for answer a) Away from the vicinity of an aerodrome.

The Operational Meteorology section of the study guide (pg 7.15) gives reference to AIP GEN page 3.5 and various para's. I don't have my AIP with me and although the references *may* be outdated, they shouldn't be too far away from that.

Cheers,

Michael
