hi there,

just after a little clarification when it comes to TTFs. I know it says in the text that when it is a trend type forecast that no 30min buffer applies to changes in weather due to there accuracy but i was wondering if the same applies when it comes to the buffers you need to apply for your ETA. the text states that when using a forecast to plan for a flight it must be valid for a period of not less than 30 minutes before and sixty minutes after your planned ETA. does this apply when you are using TTFs or does it only apply to TAFs. if anyone could shed some light would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, Nick

Hi Nick,

Since you don't know exactly when you will arrive at your destination (e.g. delays, diversions etc), you must ensure you have a valid forecast to hand for 30 minutes before and 60 minutes after your intended arrival time. Those buffers apply whether the forecast you have is an Area Forecast, TAF or a TTF ( see AIP ENR 1.1 para 1.2.5).

Cheers,

Rich
