Please can anyone help me with this question?

TORA- 1350 M
ASDA- 1400 M
CLEAR WAY - 80 M beyond ASDA

Displaced Threshold - 40 M

What is TODA?
a) 1480m
b) 1400m
c) 1310m
d) 1440m
e) 1350m

I'm not sure how to go about this type of question

I did TODA= CLEAR WAY + TORA

LIKE: 1350 + 80 = 1430..I'm stuck with it

Silly question.

Presuming that TORA and ASDA both commence from the same point
Assuming that the clearway reference means that the end of the clearway is 80m past the end of the ASDA

then we would come up with an answer that TODA is 1480.

The TODA has naught to do with ASDA - the question is just being cute and making you think a bit

Be careful of mindlessly using equations. I see, both here and elsewhere, a tendency for folks to pull out an equation, plug some numbers in, and claim that the numbers coming out of the equation provide the answer. Often that's the case - but not always. It is far better to draw a sketch and have a bit of a think about what the question is asking and what it all might mean. Then, and only then, go about figuring out the solution.

Equations often are a useful tool but do try not to make them the be all and end all.
