1. Is it ok to assume no wind conditions when question asks to calculate PNR, but no TAS is given ? Only the fuel and consumption were given.
2. An aircraft POH says takeoffs with flaps 0. When applying small amout of flaps, what will be the takeoff distance (shorter/longer) and climb performances (better/worse) ?
I found an article saying that any deviation from POH would increase the takeoff distance.
If the question asked for just the safe endurance, wind would not affect that. But if the question asked you to calculate the position of the PNR, then you must have the ground speed out and back, so the wind would be essential. You shouldn't have to 'assume' no wind. The examiner should indicate what wind to use.
For some aircraft types, a small amount of flap extended will shorten the ground run on take-off, but increase the distance to climb to 50ft. Take-off distance is from the commencement of the take-off run to reaching 50ft. So in that particular aircraft, the use of flap would actually increase take-off distance required (it would shorten the ground run but decrease the climb performance to 50ft). The POH will tell you whether or not to use flap for a short field take-off.
