In regards to CPL Performance and TODA. I have failed the Performance exam by 1% and one question I got wrong was about TODA. Can you use a stopway for the TODA if no clearway is given?
The question was TORA 1350. ASDA 1450 Displaced threshold of 50m. The displaced threshold is there as a distraction and affects the LDA. Is the exam looking for an answer of 1350 or 1450?
So many different answers on different forums. Some say a stopway can’t be used for a clearway.
Thanks in advance

TODA includes the runway strip (if no clearway) and any stopway would be included by default

Hope this helps and good luck with your next attempt.

as CASA defines it you can't use a stopway in the TODA calculations

Mmmm .... methinks that whoever in CASA provided the advice might be well advised to have a browse through MOS 139.

From definitions -

runway strip means a defined area, including the runway and stopway,

take-off distance available (TODA) is the full length of the runway plus the length of any clearway. However, if there is no designated clearway, the part of the runway strip between the end of the runway and the runway strip end must be included as part of the TODA

Can you use a stopway for the TODA if no clearway is given?

I would suggest, not only can you do so, the MOS words require it to be so.
