In the following question (image attached), it states that the BEW is 1350 lbs, but then the working goes on to add 15 lbs of oil. I was of the understanding that EW was without oil, but BEW includes usable oil, hence none should be added. Or am i misguided?

Cheers,
Tim.

Hi Tim,
In Bravo and Charlie systems, the BEW does NOT include full oil. You always need to add that as a separate entry. Alpha' BEW, on the other hand, includes full oil.
Undrainable oil and undrainable fuel are always included in the basic empty weight though, and in the real world, you would need to be check your aircraft''s POH to see whether they also included full oil.
Cheers,
Rich

Thanks Rich. My Aviation Theory Centre BAK book didn't seem to make that distinction, but thanks for the heads up! I passed my BAK exam yesterday so all good! And a good point about the POH in the real world!

Cheers,
Tim.
