I am going through PPL practice exams and notes, but a few meteorological terms keep tripping me up.

As I understand it --

SIGMET - An AIREP detailing that conditions have deteriorated below certain criteria in a specific area (but can be below 20,000ft)
AIRMET - Widespread, Limited below 12,000ft (though I have also read 10,000ft...?); details deteriorating conditions, but less significant
SPECI - Significant Change, issued by MET reporting station

Also, I am not entirely sure on the difference between an AIRMET & AIREP, and SIGMET & SPECI

I will keep re-reading the books, but any useful pointers would be greatly appreciated!
